Taken on a very cold and breezy October morning 2012.
This is a digitally blended image using elements from 5 of 9 manual exposures ranging from 0.5 secs to 120 seconds at f5.6 .
Many masks and layers were used to bring in the appropriate parts of the other images in order to ensure I had a full dynamic range in the image (within self-imposed artistic boundaries).
Overall I guess I must have spent 2 to 3 hours on this image over the course of 2 to 3 days.
One of the lessons I have learned ove the time I have been doing this sort of thing (12 months) is not to rush to publish. So many times I have produced an image and rushed to upload only to discover at some later stage that actually it is not really as good as I thought it was at the time I was processing it.

The little red thingy
See that little red pole thingy?
That's the border between Poland and Slovakia - they used to have guard on point there in days gone by.
At 6500ft above sea level, that's a hell of a climb to get to work everyday if you ask me!

Cromer Pier pre-Dawn
The tide was coming in fast but I really wanted to get the pier from this angle. There was no alternative but to get my feet wet!

The Blue Hour in Godmanchester
Shot late evening on June 28th after the sun had set - the 'Blue Hour'. This is Godmanchester in the Huntingdonshire district of Cambridgeshire - originally chartered in 1212, but there is evidence to suggest there has been a settlement there for over 2000 years.

Down by the Riverside
A beautiful (ish) morning in St Ives Cambs today (23 June 2012). Sun rise was at 04:40 which is a little hard to manage, but well worth it considering that the the sun is particularly big in the sky at this time of year giving some spectacular shots.

A Quiet Street In Venice
Just 5 minutes off the beaten track near St Mark's Square, there is a little corner of Venice largely unspoilt by the hoards of tourists, and where many locals seem to live and frequent. This is a shot from that area on a 'busy' June day.

Venetian Carnival Masks
When shopping in Venice, it seems like every other shop is dedicated to selling Venetian carnival masks and costumes.
This is a photo of the shop window of one of the better ones - the quality of craftsmanship was outstanding.

"Blue Hour" on the River Cam (HDR)
The River Cam in Cambridge is full of canal boats, rowing boats, and punts. A pretty busy waterway that can make for some interesting photos.
The sky on the morning this was shot (21 April 2012) was particularly photo friendly in the blue hour before sunrise. The sunrise itself was magnificent with a huge fireball in the sky, and I managed to get some decent shots of that also which I will post up another day.
3 exposures blended together, processed in PS5 with Nik tools. But largely this is what the scene was like but rather darker.

A photo worth getting shot for (HDR)
Of course, as we all know, farmers do not like people trespassing on their fields. But this was one place I really wanted to shoot, even if it meant getting shot! Thankfully, I think he overslept that day, and I am still alive to tell the tale.

Welcome to London
St Pancras station in London has recently undergone major investment in support of the required international rail links for the upcoming London Olympics.
This was my first visit there in many a year, and I have to say the job they have done is extremely impressive, and anyone coming to London for the first time on the Eurostar trains (you can see three of them in the photo) will be made very welcome.

Wimpole Hall - sunrise
With high expectations of a great sunrise last Saturday (5/5/2012), I arose nice and early and headed off to Wimpole Hall in Cambs and managed to get about a dozen or so decent images - of which this is one. All in all, quite a good trip as normally I struggle to get 3 or 4, even though I may shoot over 100.

Sunshine and Showers (HDR)
Well it was certainly a weekend of mixed weather we had here. Torrential rain dominated (meaning no photography!) but clearing on Sunday night to give a marvellous sunset.
Just had time to go out and grab this shot and a couple more from one of the local villages - Great Gransden.

A photo of one of the many bluebells paths in Waresley and Gransen Wood. When the light is right, and the weather friendly, this is such a beautiful and serene place to visit and take photos (for framing of course!).

Anglesey Abbey (HDR)
Shot earlier this year at Anglesey Abbey, a National Trust property in Cambs, UK. The archway here frames the shot nicely and, without additional processing, there was a nice warm glow present in the final photo which added to the scene.

Frames (HDR)
This photo is an example of an exquisite natural oak frame that is one of our best sellers – MLDA263. It is approx 20mm wide and suitable for most places in the home or work place bringing a real quality presentation to your photo or artwork. With it being untreated though, we would recommend you avoid placing this in a high humidity area where it could absorb moisture and cause bending and twisting.
